Bodegas La Horra

Corimbo I 2016

“Bodegas La Horra’s top wine is built to age, eschewing easy drinkability in its youth. This hails from vineyards in five higher altitude Burgos vineyards with an average age of 60 years. Intense, savoury and sinewy, with some chalky freshness, notes of incense and dried herbs and layers of damson and tobacco leaf.” 94 points

Tim Atkin MW’s Ribera del Duero Report 2021

“Selected from over 50-year-old vines, it shows the freshness of the year coupled with ripe black fruit and spice, integrated oak, a medium to full body and very fine tannins. It’s powerful and elegant in equal parts.” 94 points

Corimbo I 2015

“Depth of colour belies the age of the wine. Secondary notes garland both nose and palate, however; a plush ensemble with blue fruit, spice and an authoritative oak backdrop. Dark chocolate, woodsmoke and tapenade stand out in a powerful expression of Tinta del Pais that has been built to last.” 93 points

Corimbo I 2014

“Super nose of blackberry and currant, with creamy new oak; sweet fruit, rounded, plush tannins, layered and very good. Drink sooner rather than later.” 93 points

Corimbo 2013

“Like the wines from Rioja, the “second” wine does not carry a number, and I tasted two vintages of that wine, the fresher of which is the 2013 Corimbo. It shows fine gunpowder-like reduction, with a core of flowers and wild berries, fine and elegant. This is one of the most elegant and fine vintages I remember from this bottling. Truly outstanding. Bravo!” 93 points

“This is a really composed, rich and concentrated wine with a wealth of dried red flowers and red berry fruits. The palate has a plush and fluid style to it with red plum, darker berry, brambly flavors. Fresh finish.”
